Highway Drainage and Embankment Maintenance
EACOM delivered a two-year road-maintenance contract for the cleaning and functional maintenance of drainage channels, culverts, roadside ditches, embankments and highway flood-protection elements across North Macedonia’s state-road network.
Contract value excluding VAT: 100,000,000 MKD VAT: 18,000,000 MKD
The contract was delivered under EACOM’s former legal name, EUROVIA DOOEL.
Context and purpose.
The project comprised a two-year public road-maintenance contract commissioned by the Public Enterprise for State Roads.
The service package focused on maintaining the functionality of highway and state-road drainage infrastructure, including drainage channels, culverts, roadside ditches, embankments and flood-protection elements.
EACOM’s role involved the organization and execution of the agreed maintenance activities across the relevant sections of the state-road network, together with the coordination of operational personnel, machinery, site access and work sequencing.
The published contract value was 100,000,000 MKD excluding VAT, with a total value of 118,000,000 MKD including VAT. The contract duration was two years from enforcement, with 2025 stated as the completion year in the existing EACOM reference.
Construction scope and deliverables.
Delivery methodology.
Execution of the contract required coordinated deployment of maintenance teams and machinery across multiple road locations.
The operational programme had to account for access to drainage structures, safe work zones adjacent to live traffic, removal of accumulated material and the restoration of unobstructed water flow through channels, ditches and culverts.
Activities were organized in accordance with the contract programme and the requirements of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, with coordination between EACOM’s field teams, site management and the relevant road-maintenance stakeholders.
The multi-location nature of the contract required structured scheduling, workforce allocation, machinery mobilization and documentation of completed interventions.
Institutional construction delivery.
Road-drainage systems are essential to the serviceability and long-term durability of highway infrastructure.
Blocked channels and culverts can restrict water flow, increase erosion risk, affect embankment stability and accelerate deterioration of the roadway and surrounding infrastructure.
Regular maintenance restores the hydraulic functionality of drainage structures and reduces exposure to water-related damage, localized flooding and degradation of road assets.
This contract strengthens EACOM’s reference portfolio in operational road maintenance, drainage infrastructure and multi-location service delivery across the state-road network.
Outcomes and contribution.
The completed maintenance programme supported the continued functionality of drainage channels, culverts, roadside ditches, embankments and highway flood-protection infrastructure across the relevant sections of the state-road network.
The works contributed to the management of surface water, reduction of drainage obstructions and preservation of the operational condition of the maintained road infrastructure.
For EACOM, the contract represents a significant reference in long-duration, multi-location road-maintenance services delivered for a national public-road authority.
Public healthcare services.
Maintenance activities adjacent to active roads require controlled site organization and coordination with traffic-safety requirements.
Field operations must account for workforce protection, machinery movement, temporary work zones, access to drainage structures and the safe removal and handling of accumulated material.
HSE and operational controls form an integral part of delivering repetitive maintenance interventions across multiple highway and state-road locations.
