Tetovo Castle – Bal Tepe Wall and Entrance Reconstruction is a heritage restoration project involving the reconstruction of the collapsed wall and entrance area of Tetovo’s historic fortress.
Located on Bal Tepe hill above the city of Tetovo, the fortress is an archaeological and cultural site with historical significance for the region. The project focused on restoring damaged elements of the wall and entrance while respecting the existing character and cultural value of the site.
Unlike standard construction works, heritage-site interventions require a controlled and sensitive approach. The objective is not only to rebuild damaged elements, but to stabilize, protect and preserve the historical identity of the structure.
For EACOM, this project represents a specialized reference in heritage restoration and conservation-related construction works, where structural intervention, material compatibility, execution precision and respect for the existing site are essential.
Scope of Works
EACOM’s scope included reconstruction and restoration-related works for the collapsed wall and entrance of Tetovo’s Castle – Bal Tepe, including:
- Reconstruction of collapsed wall sections
- Restoration-related works at the entrance area
- Structural stabilization and repair works
- Careful treatment of existing wall elements
- Use of materials and methods compatible with the historical site
- Site works within a sensitive archaeological and heritage context
- Coordination with conservation requirements
- Final preparation for completion and handover
Technical Relevance
Heritage-site restoration requires a construction approach that differs from standard building or infrastructure projects.
The technical challenge is to restore stability and usability without compromising historical authenticity, existing materials or the cultural character of the site. Works must be controlled, proportionate and aligned with conservation requirements.
The Bal Tepe project demonstrates EACOM’s ability to execute sensitive reconstruction works in historically significant locations, where technical intervention must be balanced with preservation.
Execution Approach
EACOM’s execution approach focused on careful intervention, structural stabilization and respect for the existing historical structure.
The works required attention to site conditions, preservation requirements and material compatibility, ensuring that the reconstructed wall and entrance elements were integrated into the existing fortress environment.
Project Impact
The completed works contributed to the preservation and stabilization of Tetovo’s Castle – Bal Tepe, supporting the long-term protection of an important cultural and archaeological site.
As a heritage restoration reference, the project strengthens EACOM’s portfolio in conservation-related works and demonstrates experience in projects where cultural value and technical execution must be handled together.
