Building No. 48 – Ilinden Barracks Reconstruction is a completed institutional reconstruction project carried out within the Ilinden Military Barracks in Skopje for the Ministry of Defence.
The project involved the reconstruction and adaptation of an existing building originally constructed in the 1940s and later affected by structural damage following the 1963 Skopje earthquake.

Institutional reconstruction projects require careful coordination between existing structural conditions, new functional requirements, technical systems and long-term operational use.
Building No. 48 required intervention in an older structure with historical construction characteristics and prior structural damage. The project combined rehabilitation of the supporting structure with internal reorganization, new roofing, façade works, flooring, ceilings and technical system replacement.
The project demonstrates EACOM’s capability to restore and adapt existing institutional buildings for renewed public-sector use while coordinating architectural, structural and technical works within an active defence environment.

EACOM’s execution approach focused on controlled dismantling, structural rehabilitation and functional adaptation of the existing building.
The works required coordination across multiple disciplines, including construction, façade, roofing, interior works and technical installations, with the objective of returning the building to full operational condition for the Ministry of Defence.
Project Impact
The completed reconstruction restored Building No. 48 within the Ilinden Military Barracks to functional use.
The project contributed to the operational infrastructure of the Ministry of Defence by adapting an older, damaged building into a usable administrative and support facility, extending the service life of an existing public-sector asset.
